Travelling over Christmas, a bank holiday or a February weekend? Book 30 days ahead: you pay 10% less and your size is secured.
Which level should you choose?
- Beginner — green and blue runs: short, easy-turning skis that forgive mistakes. The obvious choice for a first trip or if you only ski a few days a year.
- Intermediate — blue and red runs: more stable at medium speed, for confident turns and for exploring both sectors of the resort.
- Advanced — red and black runs: performance skis with precision and edge grip on hard snow.
- Kids — two sizes by height (70-135 cm and 135-150 cm), with bindings set to the child's weight and boots that are easy to buckle.
- SnowBlade — very short skis for playing on the piste or learning without poles.
If you're torn between two levels, pick the lower one: in the shop you can step up by paying only the difference, and if you step down the difference is refunded.
Snowboard and snowshoe hire in Formigal
You can choose a snowboard in the same booking: board and boots for €33.44/day on the Intermediate level, the board alone for €30 or boots alone for €20; for kids 70 to 135 cm tall the full set is €30/day. If you only snowboard, all the details are on our snowboard rental in Formigal page. Snowshoes are €12/day, for walks around the Tena valley without skiing.
Sizes, boots and the details we ask for
When booking you give each person's height, weight and EU shoe size; for snowboarding, also which foot goes in front (if you're not sure, the shop will check). With that information the skis are prepared at the right length and the bindings set to your weight. Boots are tried on at pick-up: if they pinch or feel loose, they're swapped on the spot. Bring long, thin ski socks; thick cotton socks stop the boot from fitting properly.
How to book your ski hire in Formigal
- Choose skis, snowboard or snowshoes, the level and the pack: full set, skis or board only, or boots only.
- Select your pick-up and return dates: the total appears straight away.
- Enter each skier's height, weight and shoe size and, if you like, add a helmet.
- Pay 20% online and receive an email confirmation with the shop's address and opening hours.
- Collect your gear ready to go, pay the balance in the shop and head for the slopes.
Pick-up and return at our Formigal shop
At weekends the shop opens from 8:30 to 21:00 without a lunch break, and on Fridays until 22:00 for late arrivals. The easiest option is to collect the evening before: you try your boots on without rushing and the next morning you're on the first lift.
To get to the slopes, the resort ski bus leaves the village (stop at the square clock) for the Sextas and Anayet base areas, running continuously. Return everything to the same shop on your last hire day.
Staying in Sallent de Gállego, Escarrilla or Panticosa?
Formigal is not a municipality in its own right: it is one of the villages of Sallent de Gállego, together with Sallent, Portalet, Lanuza, Escarrilla, Tramacastilla de Tena and Sandiniés. Sallent village sits at 1,305 m, a short drive from the resort. If you're staying there, book your ski rental here and collect the gear in Formigal on the evening you arrive. The resort bus between Formigal and Panticosa stops in Sallent on some early-morning and afternoon runs; check each season's timetable on the official Formigal-Panticosa website.
If you're staying in Panticosa or Biescas and will mostly ski the Panticosa sector, the ski hire in Panticosa is more convenient: you collect it there, next to the gondola.
Formigal-Panticosa in brief
