What to look for on the Astún webcams before you go
- Is there snow on the road? The DGT camera on the N-330a shows whether the tarmac is white. If it is, the DGT may make snow chains compulsory.
- Is it the same up top as at the base? Compare the base with Truchas and Ibones, and check the wind at the top. If any area shows cloud or snow blowing off the ridges, it is windy and the upper lifts may stop.
- What is the snow like? Matt and untracked after a snowfall means fresh snow. Shiny first thing means hard or icy snow, so wait for the sun to soften it.
- How busy is it? The base camera is live video, so you can see how many people are about right now. Weekdays and early mornings are usually quieter.

Getting to Astún: the N-330a and snow chains
Astún is in the Aragón valley (Huesca), a few kilometres from Candanchú and the Somport pass. You drive up on the N-330a, and the DGT camera on this page covers that road at Candanchú. When it snows, the DGT may make chains compulsory on the N-330a: check dgt.es or call 011, the Spanish traffic information line, before you set off.
